We first got to know it with the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models. And it was a blast. Compared to the previous, albeit already reduced, cut-out, this element looked modern and, above all, effective. But three years later, that enthusiasm has cooled. What's next?

The so-called we had the wide form of cutout in the display here in the iPhone X, iPhone XS and XR, as well as the iPhone 11 and 12 generations. The narrow one came with the iPhone 13, when the basic iPhone 14 also got it. The Dynamic Island element is then available in the iPhone 14 Pro and the entire range of iPhones 15 and 16. So it's three years when he's here with us and when it's up to him Apple he did not do anything on the hardware side. So it's time for a change.

There was already a lot of speculation about this in the case of the iPhone 16, but nothing new has happened in this regard. So Dynamic Island still looks and behaves the same as it did three years ago. Apple apps work very well with it, as well as the system, other titles, that is, many of those from third-party developers, but still have problems with it. It often somehow interferes with the interface and control elements, even with very popular games (e.g. Gossip Harbor).

So hardware reduction is definitely in order. Most of all, it bothers videos, paradoxically more than in the case of the second version of the cut-out (at least subjectively). The problem with videos is that there is still a display area between it and the frame. However, it has software reserves even with small displays, especially now with the iPhone 14 Pro, 15, 15 Pro and 16. Animated elements like to extend beyond the display itself, which simply does not look good.

What is waiting for us?

According to current informationmacbut Apple acquired patent on technology that would finally allow it to hide Face ID under the display. This would be a crucial step towards making the entire element miniIt could only remain a blank known from competing solutions, which would not mean that we would have to resort to spectacular ormacIt would be necessary to get rid of them, they would just come from a smaller area.

After all, it solves Face ID under the display Apple for a really long time and we dare to guess that minialmost since the launch of the iPhone X. However, the first major mentions of it are from 2021, when it was already Apple filed various patents, so we were looking forward to both the iPhones 15 and 16. But this could actually be true for the iPhones 17, which many analysts are leaning towards. The iPhone 17 Air will certainly play an important role in this, with the aim of achieving the most elegant appearance possible, which would miniMalization of Dynamic Island helped.

It could also be the only model in the range in which you would Apple he tested the technology the next year. Since it will also be quite expensive, Apple's development could thus pay off well before deploying the technology in at least the iPhone 18 Pro models.
