A few days ago, this year's second conference was held from Applu, specifically it was about WWDC22. At this developer conference, as expected, like every year, we saw the introduction of new operating systems from Applu – iOS a iPadOS 16 macOS 13 Ventura and watchOS 9. All of these new operating systems are currently available in developer beta versions and we have been covering them together in our magazine since their release. In this article, we will take a look at 5 new features in Photos from iOS 16 that you should know about.

Cropping an object from an image

One of the great features in Photos from iOS 16, which Apple even presented directly at the conference for a relatively long time, includes cutting out an object from the image. So if you have a photo where there is an object in the foreground that you would like tochat cut and remove both the background, so now in iOS 16 you can easily. Just hold your finger on the object and then move it anywhere. The cut object will snap to your finger and then you just need to move to where you want to share it and paste it here.

Locking the Hidden and Recently Deleted albums

We probably all have some photos or videos on our iPhone that are purely private and that no one should see. It has been around for a long time. iOS a Hidden album, where you can put all the content you don't want to show up in your library. This will remove the photos and videos from your library, but they'll still be easily accessible through the Photos app. Users have long been asking for the ability to lock the Hidden album, and in iOS 16 have finally arrived. To activate the function, just go to Settings → Photos, where below in the category Alba activate with the switch Use Face ID or Use Touch ID.

Copy photo edits

V iOS 13, the native Photos app has seen relatively big improvements, especially in terms of image and video editing options. This means that you no longer need to download third-party apps to edit photos and videos. However, if you had several photos (or videos) in front of you that you needed to edit anyway, there was no option to copy the edits and then apply them to other photos. All photos had to be edited manually. In iOS But with 16, this is no longer the case and photo edits can finally be copied. Just click on the edited slide slide, tap in the top right three dots icon, select an option Copy edits, go to another photo tap again three dots icon and select Embed edits.

Back and forth for editing

Let's stick with editing your photos. As I mentioned on the previous page, you can do basic photo (and video) editing right in the native Photos app. Just open the photo, then tap Edit in the top left, where you'll find all the options. In iOS 16, however, we have seen improvements within this interface – specifically, we can finally step by stepgo back or forward. It's enough that you in the upper left corner, they clicked on the appropriate arrow, just like in a web browser. Finally, don't forget to tap on after making all the adjustments Done bottom right.

Duplicate detection

Smartphone manufacturers have been constantly trying to improve camera systems in recent years. They are thus capable of producing high-quality images, where we often have trouble knowing whether they come from an iPhone or a mirrorless camera. However, this quality comes at a cost – users have to sacrifice storage space, which is a problem especially with older iPhones. In order to save space in the storage, it is necessary to tidy up Photos and possibly delete unnecessary duplicates. It was possible to use a third-party application to delete duplicates, but now this option is available directly in the native application Photos. Just go to the section in the bottom menu Alba, where to get off all the way down to the category More albumsand click open Duplicates. All recognized duplicates can now be viewed and possibly deleted here.
