Apple today released one of those update waves that at first glance don't seem fundamental, but in the end make surprisingly good sense. In addition iOS 26.5 to iPadOS 26.5 arrived macOS Tahoe 26.5, watchOS 26.5 tvOS 26.5 visionOS 26.5 and updates for HomePodIn other words, Apple has now unified virtually its entire ecosystem on version 26.5.
iPhone and iPad: small changes, big impact
The main role is traditionally played by iOS. And even though iOS 26.5 doesn't bring any "wow" features, but there are a few new features worth mentioning. The most important one is, without a doubt, end-to-end encryption for RCS messages. In other words, communication between iPhonewith Android is finally moving to the level that users have long expected. But there is a catch. The function is being turned on gradually depending on the operators. In addition, a new Pride Luminance wallpaper and minor improvements to Maps have been added, which now recommend interesting places based on what is currently popular around you.
Mac: silent preparation for change
Na Machere Apple follows a similar scenario. macOS Tahoe 26.5 adds the same “Suggested Places” to Maps while also subtly paving the way for ads that are set to arrive this summer. Also interesting is the change in App Storu where Apple is trying a new subscription model. Lower monthly price, but a year-long commitment. Exactly the kind of thing that can make sense, but can also easily tie you down more than you want.
Apple Watch et al.: fine-tuning the details
Na watchOS On May 26.5, a new Pride watch face arrived and a few fixes that solve, for example, problems with Messages or notifications during exercise. tvOS 26.5 to visionOS 26.5 then rides purely on a wave of optimizations and security patches. The same applies to HomePod.
The end of an era is approaching
This entire wave has one more thing in common: it's quite possible that these are the latest updates that bring new features to the current generation of systems. Apple in just a few weeks WWDC 2026 will show iOS 27 and other new systems that will take things a step further.
I hope this is the last era of gay watch faces and wallpapers Tim Cooka. :)
