You could buy two new 14" MacBooky Pro, or one Pro Display XDR. This external display Applu stands out not only for its features, but also for its price, especially if you choose the version with nanotexture. But after all, it's been a year and new MacBookThey have recently brought significant progress in the field of displays in portable computers.

Of course, there's not much point in talking about size and equipment. Compared to 14 or 16" MacBookThe Pro Display XDR will provide a 32-inch diagonal for the Pro. However, the resolution, and especially the pixel density, is not so clear-cut, because in the latter case, there MacBooky actually lead above the separate display.

  • ProDisplay XDR: 6016 × 3384 pixels at 218 pixels per inch
  • 14,2 " MacBook Pro: 3024 × 1964 pixels at 254 pixels per inch
  • 16,2 " MacBook Pro: 3456 × 2234 pixels at 254 pixels per inch

Pro Display XDR is an IPS LCD technology with oxide TFT (thin film transistor) technology, which provides a 2D backlight array with 576 local dimming zones. U MacBooku Pro calls Apple their Liquid display Retina XDR display. It is also an LCD with oxide TFT technology, which Apple it mentions that it allows pixels to charge twice as fast as before.

It is backlit with the help of mini-LED, when there are thousands mini-LEDs grouped into individually controlled local dimming zones for precise brightness and contrast adjustment. Also present is ProMotion technology with adaptive refresh rates from 24 to 120 Hz. Fixed refresh rates are: 47,95 Hz, 48,00 Hz, 50,00 Hz, 59,94 Hz, 60,00 Hz, even in the case of the Pro Display XDR setting.

Extreme dynamic range

The abbreviation XDR stands for extreme dynamic range. Because displays with this designation have both new MacBooky Pro, and of course the Pro Display XDR, which has it in the name, have very similar specifications. The brightness is 1 nits long-term (over the entire screen), 000 nits is then present in the case of peak brightness. The contrast ratio is also identical, namely 1:600. There is also a wide P1 color gamut, a billion colors or True Tone technology.

MacBook Pro is a professional machine that you buy for its on-the-go performance. But it still delivers a premium display experience. You won't be carrying the Pro Display XDR with you anywhere. It excels Retina 6K resolution, but also its price. However, it will also offer reference modes and expert calibration for professionals. The only thing that can be criticized is perhaps the backlight system, when an update in the form of mini-LED has already earned, Apple could also switch to OLED with it. Here, however, the question would be how much more its price would jump.
