September Keynote It's arguably the biggest change to the iPhone portfolio in years, if not years. But while the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro have been improved, they still bear the clear signature of their predecessors. iPhone Air But it is different. Completely different. It is the first of its kind.
Of course, we can argue about who really brought the first thin phone to the market and what success (or failure) they had with it. About the iPhone Air But it was rumored a long time ago and it was kind of an open secret that sooner or later it would come. Now it's here and is it really what we hoped it would be?
The thinnest iPhone, a design gem
There's no need to be complacent. There are things that might bother you, but the excitement of holding the phone in your hand outweighs them all. We're now at the beginning of a new style, of thin phones that can really impress with their design. It might be different in a year, but right now, there's excitement.
It's hard to imagine how many 5,64 mm are actually in your hand. So if you are iPhone Air haven't seen it in person yet and haven't held it in your hand, know that it's an amazing phone that you just want to look at. It's a precisely crafted device that, according to many tests, is incredibly durable. It owes this to its titanium frame and ideal size. There's a 6,5" display that's neither big nor small. It's ideal for such a device. It doesn't make it a fly swatter and doesn't limit your field of vision or finger range.
There are four colors to choose from. varianty, when we have the black one available for testing. As we have already written, it reminds us of iPhone 4 i iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in Jet Black, but its problem is that it gets dirty a lot. More than any other iPhone, however, Air resembles the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. In its larger variaI had it in black titanium, hence the association. It is similar to it in the materials used, including the matte back with a glossy module.
iPhone Air It is therefore a very elegant and stylish device. It does not have a business look like the iPhone 17 Pro, nor is it relatively ordinary like the standard iPhone 17. iPhone Air she is simply the most beautiful iPhone recent years and yes, if it had the thickness of a regular iPhone, of course it wouldn't stand out as much, but he's not like that. You may not like the massive module, but it must be said that if it weren't here, the question is where would it go? Apple hid all that technology and what effect it would have on the photos. I see it as a "necessary evil" and I'm completely fine with it. I also see USB-C port, which is offset and closer to the back of the device. By the way, the total weight of the phone is only 165 g.

A display with the ideal size
Everything adapts to the phone's slimness, including the display. Apple In my opinion, he ideally balanced the size, not trying to push the diagonal to unnecessarily high numbers. 6,5 inches should be enough for everyone. After all, that's also why it's Air as compact as it is. Anything more would be unnecessary and it is questionable what effect a larger display would have on the battery, although the latter could also be larger given the larger chassis. In the end, this could be reflected more in the price, which is already Apple didn't want to increase.
Technologically, the display is the same as the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro. So there is ProMotion, there is outdoor brightness of up to 3,000 nits and there is anti-glare. Of course, the resolution is different, which is 2736 × 1260 pixels, but its fineness is still the same 460 pixels per inch. But there is one more thing that is different: Dynamic Island.
It is identical in size to the well-known one, but is placed lower. Apple struggled with the internal layout and thus had to remove the front camera and sensors Face ID sit a little lower so that everything fits perfectly into the device. So it is 3,4 mm from the display frame, on the iPhone 17 Pro Max but it's 2,3 mm. Does it bother you? Definitely not in normal use, but when watching videos, Dynamic Island is more distracting because it interferes more with the displayed content. Some people may not like it in games either.
The performance doesn't quite know where to belong.
In the area of performance, it is iPhone Air a rather strange device that doesn't quite know what it wants. On the one hand, it wants to be the best, but it's not, because compared to the 17 Pro models, its A19 Pro chip lacks one graphics core. Then there are the limitations in terms of endurance and heating. It clearly follows that iPhone Air It can handle even the most demanding games, but it is definitely not intended for avid gamers.
This performance is there to make the device premium and at the forefront of performance, which it needs for work tasks, not gaming ones, and of course, handling AI - not only today but also in the future. The A19 Pro chip has a 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU, the RAM memory is 12 GB. Internal storage starts at 256 GB, with 512 GB and 1 TB to choose from.
Now, there is probably no situation where you would find that it is iPhone 17 Pro (Max) somehow faster and more powerful than iPhone AirBut what you will find out is how iPhone 17 Pro (Max) ideally distributes heat throughout the device (which is due not only to the aluminum unibody construction but also to the new cooling system), while iPhone Air It is mainly heated in its module. This is also linked to the issue of long-term performance, which therefore begins with Airto fall a little faster.
It's a clear price for the design, the concentration of components in one place and the titanium chassis, which does not conduct heat as well as aluminum. It takes relatively little to heat up the phone - a few photos, or a moment of playing a more demanding game. Just as quickly as the heat is generated, surprisingly it also leaves just as quickly. But how the phone will fare in the summer and in direct sunlight is a question. Personally, I wouldn't worry that it will be worse than the titanium iPhones 15 Pro and 16 Pro (Max).

The battery may disappoint, but...
This is probably the most controversial topic of all thin phones, iPhone Air including. Thin body = small battery. Without changing its technology, this probably won't change, even if Apple It leads here by optimizing the hardware. It does everything itself, including the system, so it can get longer usage time from the same size battery that the competition would use.
Moreover, the paper values given by the company are quite attractive. After all, it has Air to endure as is iPhone 16 Pro or even an hour of playing or streaming video longer than iPhone 16e (specifically 27 or 22 hours). So where is the problem? Maybe it's that Apple Airu himself doesn't believe it, so he introduced a special power bank for him - special in that it's just for him and doesn't even work with other iPhones. Moreover, it's sized exactly so that it reaches under the module and is ideally embraced by the Bumper, if you have one on your phone.
If it were universal, which we already know from the past in the form of the Battery Pack, you would say fine, but since it is intended exclusively for this model, it suggests that it may not be such a big deal. And it is not, but a lot depends on you. We all use our devices differently, we all get a different number of notifications, we call differently, we write differently, we play differently. Personally, I was not worried about the battery life and I still am not. Was it exciting? Not exciting. Was it disappointing? I can't say that. My use is specific and it doesn't happen often that I don't have access to electricity.
This happens most often on trips, where I of course take a lot of photos. But since I'm a sensible guy, I still take it with me to such events. MagSafe power bank, actually since the iPhone 13 Pro Max, because you never know. What's the point of not taking it out often, it's a kind of insurance. With iPhonem Air I can easily manage a day – a work day, when I take care of a lot of things, and a weekend day, when I don't take care of anything, but I have fun with my phone – navigating in Mapy.com, taking photos. So one balances the other and the result is the same.
The recommendation in this regard is clear: "Don't buy iPhone Air"if you want long battery life. Got a busy day ahead of you? Take a power bank." That's just the way it is and either accept it or get another one. iPhone, after all, this year the offer is truly varied. But condemn iPhone Air I feel sorry for it due to concerns about durability.
Cameras are precise, but there are few of them
I have no problem with the phone's performance, I can forgive it for heating up, I can live with the battery life. What bothers me the most is the camera. But be careful here. The one present is great, but I am specific and will not allow a telephoto lens. For this reason, I don't even "smell" basic iPhones and I am dependent on iPhones with the nickname Pro. But here it is sad that we are talking about a phone for 30 thousand Kč, which lacks that telephoto lens (iPhone 17 after all, it starts at an amount 7 thousand lower).
That he is not here ultrawide-angle lens, I honestly don't care because I'm shooting with it miniI don't use macro mode, I actually shoot at close range. You just have to live with the 48MPx Fusion camera with f/1,6 aperture and sensor-shift image stabilization. There's 1x, 1,1x, 1,5x and 2x zoom. So there are 4 cameras in one, but only the first and last ones make sense anyway. iPhone Air It is therefore limited by the zoom options, and logically there are no 3D photos. The results are nevertheless great, even at 2x hybrid zoom (it is also worth adding that there is a 10x digital zoom, but you will not want to take pictures with it). Sharpness, details, colors - if there is only one camera, it at least produces relatively uncompromising results.
What is definitely positive is that you can also take portrait photos of pets and any objects, which is iPhone 16e can't (but it costs half of what iPhone Air). What's negative, however, is that you won't find a cinematographic mode for recording videos with a shallow depth of field. What's strange is that the front camera, which can do it on the iPhone 17, doesn't have it either. Apple You probably thought that if the back can't do it anymore, the front, which is otherwise the same for all new models, shouldn't get it either. You won't find the professional options from the iPhone 17 Pro here either, but you probably wouldn't be looking for them here.
Speaking of the front camera, it is technically the same as the iPhone 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. It is an 18MPx Center Stage with frame centering in the form of automatically determining whether to take a photo in portrait or landscape mode depending on how many people are huddled around you in the photo. It works great, it's great and it produces great results. Its aperture is f/1,9. Thanks to the lightness of the device and the great way it is handled, I am not afraid to say that this is the best selfie phone ever. It has competition perhaps only in Samsung Galaxy Z Flipwhich can take self-portraits with the main cameras because it is a foldable phone with an external display. Air It also has the new feature of recording video on the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
In the area of photography, one more mention about the Camera Driver. It finally came here Applu fit, but it is slightly redesigned. It is narrower and lacks a more pronounced edging. It is also perfectly flush with the body frame, which has one drawback - it is relatively difficult to find. Since I learned to use the controller regularly, I have AirThe problem is that I often press where it doesn't actually belong (typically a little higher).
He has faults, but I forgive them.
Apple showed a lot of courage this year, and not only with regard to the orange color of the iPhone 17 Pro. iPhone Air It's bold as a whole. You can love it or ignore it, there are other very cool new products in the portfolio to choose from if you don't want to take any risks. But if you're also a little bold and want to try something different, here's the perfect opportunity - to own a unique first-generation iPhone Air.
You will enjoy it every day and every time you work with it, you just have to forgive it a few, for some just minor things, for others fundamental things. It sets a new direction and I personally consider it a design successor to the 15 Pro and 16 Pro models, which should try to pave the way for the first jigsaw puzzle. Applu. The company is also testing how a similarly thin device will work, even if it is flexible. iPhone will of course be divided in two.
Since the first iPhone Air I actually got everything I expected. There is more I would have liked, but I can't be disappointed. The question is how much space it would take up. variaa bit of a zoom, but not all days end like that and maybe I'll see it one day. Yes, the first swallow of the series iPhone Air it has compromises, it's up to you whether you forgive them. So I don't consider it a marketing gimmick, it does what it says Apple declares. But would it be a revolution? There are still a few technologies missing. The 256GB version costs 29,990 Kč, 512GB 35,990 Kč and 1TB 41,990 Kč.
