Few people know that iPhone can fully replace a desktop scanner – without installing any additional applications. Just open the built-in Files application, where you can not only scan the document, but also save it as a PDF to the right place. It is a solution that makes sense especially when you need to quickly convert a paper receipt, contract or form into a digital form and send it immediately.

Few people know that iPhone can fully replace a desktop scanner – without installing any additional application. Just open the native Files application, where you can not only scan the document, but also save it as a PDF to the right place. It is a solution that makes sense especially when you need to quickly convert a paper receipt, contract or form into a digital form and send it immediately.
Where to find the scan
The process is simple and just a few clicks away:
- Open the Files app.
- In the upper right corner, tap the three dots in a circle icon.
- Select Scan Documents.
- Point the camera at the document – iPhone automatically detects edges and performs cropping.
- After confirming, tap Save.
The result is a PDF file saved directly to the currently open folder, from where it can be instantly moved, shared, or renamed.
Why use Files?
The main advantage is the connection to the repository. The document is saved where you actually need it - for example, in a folder on iCloudu. There is no need to export or convert the format additionally. In addition, the system recognizes the edges of the paper very well even in less than ideal lighting. The cropping is accurate and the resulting document looks clean, often better than a regular photo. Another plus is fast sharing. With one click, the file can be sent by email, via AirDrop or save to another cloudelectronic storage.
