We are used to the fact that Apple updates its main products year after year. We're happy about that because we can look forward to new, upgraded hardware whether we buy each new generation or not. But it could change and in the final it could only be good.
Every year we have new iPhones here, Apple Watch, MacBooks Pro, every year we complain about the fact that the new generations don't really bring that much new. During those 365 days, technology will make a big leap forward, but it is not always possible to transform it ideally into a product that will enter the market in that particular year.
The advantage of launching flagship products every year is that everyone knows what to look forward to at that time. Along with this, the company can also plan ideal marketing. But the competition knows these patterns of Apple and tries to profit from them as well. That's why Samsung introduced the new Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Buds3 and Google Pixel 9 in the summer.
But Google has now separated the launch of a new version of Android from new phones. Creating hardware does not appear to be such a problem as debugging its software. Samsung is also changing its strategy, which will not introduce its One UI 7 superstructure after the release of Android 15 in October, but will hide it until January, when it will present the new flagship portfolio of phones in the Galaxy S25 series. If so Apple he responded, it wouldn't be out of place.
It depends more on the software
But to a certain extent Apple surprised in September. He didn't even show us Apple Watch Ultra 3 and neither Apple Watch SE 3rd generation. Likewise, we have been waiting too long for the new iPhone SE 4th generation. The iMac with the M2 chip didn't come either, the Mac mini, on the other hand, didn't get the M3 chips. But hardware is only one part of the story. The second is software.
He was in recent years Apple forced to delay key features in its operating system updates by weeks or even months. It created several unpleasant situations. The company made bold announcements about improvements already at WWDC in June, but we usually get to know them later than the expected September. This year it's the same when it comes to Apple Intelligence.
What does it mean?
Apple Watch Ultra will Apple re-rotate in a two-year cycle and it makes sense. Samsung already does this, Garmin takes even longer with its TOP models. Customers then look forward to them more and there is the potential for the device to bring more coveted upgrades in two years. Moreover, it causes that Apple it will be less predictable and have more potential to surprise and indeed delight.
In the case of iPhones, it could also come as early as next year, as there is a lot of speculation about the iPhone Slim or Air. The company could easily afford to leave out one basic series or, conversely, the Pro series, which would bring too few upgrades, and present something completely different and more interesting instead. I think we can all agree that it's a bit boring here. Even though we have news here, we usually still hold the same thing in our hands without major changes, which the two-year periodicity could fundamentally change, across the entire portfolio.
I don't agree, every year the news is always great. If there are news once every two years, they are overwhelmed by the competition.
I agree…!
