As we approach September, leaks are intensifying about what the iPhone 17 series will look like and what it will be capable of. It's fairly certain that we'll see a lot of changes, especially with the iPhone 17 Pro. And the biggest one is already controversial.

Visual upgrades to modern smartphones are getting smaller year by year. After all, even the iPhone 15 series looks so similar to the iPhone 14 that people can easily confuse them. Not to mention iPhonech 16 Pro, which look a lot like the iPhone 15 Pro. At least in the basic models, the appearance of the photo module changed last year. But its biggest redesign since the iPhone 11 Pro is now waiting for the professional iPhones.

Changing the photo module of iPhones 17 Pro

Even if the photo module is to be fundamentally redesigned for the first time since the iPhone 11 Pro generation, it will still have a triangular lens layout. Rather, the module itself will grow, from a square to a rectangle. LiDAR will move to the bottom right, LED to the top right. But why should this be the case?

This is not about changing the design for power. This change will be purposeful, and will be based on hardware innovations. The lens on the right, which has the most space around it, is a telephoto lens that wants to Apple v iPhonech 17 Pro has been significantly improved. It now offers 5x zoom and has 12 MPx, but the resolution is expected to jump to 48 MPx, which Apple unifies the resolution of all three rear cameras.

However, this increase in the number of MPx will result in the sensor itself becoming larger, which will require more space. With the module already Apple but it can't go lower because MagSafe, so it has to go to the side. But if the module in its current form stretched just a little towards the volume buttons, it wouldn't look good - or rather, there were certainly suggestions for that and the people in charge decided not to go that route. Therefore, the company decided to stretch the module and make it symmetrical.

This is shown quite nicely by the graphic work of a platform X user named @Mia_KacurageOf course, he doesn't have a disassembled iPhone 17 Pro/17 Pro Max unit available, but he just took the current generation and graphically rearranged the elements of the internal components in it.

Material change

Several rumors has already indicated that iPhone 17 Air could be between 5,5 and 6 mm thick compared to the 8,73 mm it should have iPhone 17 Pro Max. But iPhone 16 Pro Max It's 8,25mm thick, so it looks like the future generation will gain us overall.

For that reason Apple solves how to lighten the weight. Titanium should therefore replace aluminum, which may be a good thing if it comes at the expense of the heavy glass on the back of the device. The chassis of the iPhone 17 Pro could thus be more sophisticated, with a glass surface only in the pro area MagSafe and wireless charging. However, the company is faced with the challenge of how to ideally shield the antennas so that the device does not lose signal if it is held incorrectly.
