Even as a small boy, I admired the professional aviators who did real magic in the sky with their planes. However, their models are not easily available and often not easy to operate. It is an exaggeration to say that I am fulfilling my dreams as an adult. On the flying front, I tested the Moskito smart plane from TobyRich. She followed up on her previous models and presented an improved model in all respects.
The mosquito weighs only 18 grams and is made of soft plastic. At first glance, it looks very fragile, but it survives really neck-breaking falls without major damage. I've already crashed the plane onto concrete and hit a few trees and fences, but even after these escapades the Moskito looks like new.
What I like most about the plane is that you can take off immediately after unpacking. Just download the one with the same name the Moskito application to your iPhone and launch it. The fourth-generation Bluetooth, which has a range of up to sixty meters in the air, will take care of the rest. On a single charge, the Moskito can fly for about 12 minutes and the battery can be charged using the included microUSB The connector can be fully charged in 20 minutes. It is therefore worth carrying a power bank with you.
iPhone like a gamepad
There is also a clear tutorial in the application itself. You can control the Moskito in the air in two ways (Tilt and Joystick). The first is the traditional tilting of the iPhone to the sides and adding gas to the display. However, it is much more fun to place the small joystick that you will find in the package on the display. You can attach it to the display using two suction cups in a pre-marked place. Your iPhone suddenly becomes a gamepad with which you control the plane. Just throw it in the air like a swallow and add gas.
In the application, you can also change the sound of the engine or the flashing of the integrated LEDs. The Moskito can control even a child in the air, thanks to automatic assistants that compensate, for example, the gas, when you decide to make a sharp maneuver. However, you don't have to worry about it detracting from the experience. If you feel like it, you can choose from three difficulties and three control sensitivities.
Of course, you can fly the plane not only outside, but for indoor flying we recommend really large spaces. For example, you don't have to deal with weather conditions in the hall, because the wind usually blows the almost weightless Moskit really well. When the weather is bad, you won't have much fun flying the plane because the wind will keep blowing you around and you can easily lose the signal.
If you want to land, just ease off the throttle and graduallychat Moskito glides down to the ground. As I already announced, you don't have to worry about falls or breakage. For all cases, you will find a spare propeller in the box. The connection of Moskito with the phone is problem-free and I did not notice any major outages as long as I kept a distance of sixty meters. However, in an open meadow, I happened to overshoot a little and then ran to look for the plane.
TobyRich Moskito you can buy on EasyStore.cz for 1 CZK. For this money, you will receive a nice toy that will delight not only children, but also adults. I have to say that I have yet to come across a more intuitive and simple aircraft in terms of handling and flying. Recently, for example, we reviewed the Paper Swallow PowerUP 3.0, which I think is much harder to keep in the air for a while. Moskito offers a much better aviation experience.
