You thought you were buying an AirTag at a great price, albeit from a non-electronics e-shop. But when he brags about being the "biggest" in his main segment, you have no reason not to trust him. Even so, he sells fake AirTags from China.

It was suspicious from the start, but even the first warning didn't seem significant to me. You say to yourself that you probably won't get a box, or that the packaging will be somewhat light, which doesn't matter to you. Because the item was named as Apple AirTag (blister). Price was 529 Kč So, significantly less than AirTags are usually on sale, but much more than Chinese copies cost.

I bought two as a gift for Christmas, already on December 1st, even though the item was out of stock and it said to ship within 5 days. But the shipment finally arrived on December 20, probably because the Chinese e-shops were overwhelmed with orders and therefore did not have time to deliver themselves. But what came took my breath away.

How can anyone afford that?

If I buy from a Chinese website or similar online marketplaces, I know I won't get what I want. But I really didn't expect that from a domestic and such a large e-shop. The two delivered AirTags were also different from each other. One even had the engraving on the underside completely off-set. Their boxes looked like they were from a cheap printer. One AirTag even had a battery insert named FirTag.

The copies weren't really that successful, and the lid of one was screwed on the opposite side, so it took me a good few minutes to even get into its guts. Inside, of course, everything is different. In the gallery below, the top is the original Apple AirTag, pod ním jsou jeho dvě kopie, které přišly, kdy je jasně vidět, jak se od sebe také vzájemně liší. Korunu všemu nasadil to, že tyto šmejdy nešly ani s iPhonems iOS 18.2 pair.

What about a refund?

The advantage of buying from a large e-shop is that they are not too resistant to refunds. Although I didn't have time to buy a new one before Christmas, and I had to quickly come up with something else and give it to the person I had it for, however, the store refunded me without delay the money for the entire shipment, including the cost of shipping. However, I had to kill another half hour of my life taking the items to the brick and mortar store because it was easier than sending them registered mail and then communicating with the store about getting that postage refunded.

After I pointed out that the store was selling Chinese junk, it also withdrew this item from its offer. However, it is possible that other stores are or have been using the same strategy. If you have also stumbled upon this and wanted to save money like I did, do not hesitate to contact the store and do notchat get your money back including shipping costs.
