In addition to a brand new desktop Mac Studio he announced Apple at its spring event yesterday and a new addition to the range of external displays. Apple So the Studio Display stands alongside the Pro Display XDR as its possibly smaller and cheaper counterpart. variaHowever, it still contains interesting technologies that a larger display simply doesn't offer.

displays

In terms of design, both devices are very similar, although the new one is clearly based on the appearance of the new 24" iMacwhich only lacks bright colors and a lower chin. Studio Display offers a 27" Retina display with a resolution of 5120 × 2880 pixels. It is larger than the aforementioned iMac, but the Pro Display XDR has a diagonal of 32 inches. This is already a designation Retina XDR and its resolution is 6016 × 3384 pixels. Both have 218 ppi, however, the Studio Display has a 5K resolution, while the Pro Display XDR has a 6K resolution.

The novelty has a brightness of 600 nits, and the larger model clearly beats it in this respect as well, because it reaches up to 1 nits of peak brightness, but manages 600 nits permanently. In both cases, a wide color range (P1), support for 000 billion colors, True Tone technology, an anti-reflective layer or optional glass with a nanotexture are self-evident.

The Pro Display XDR is of course further along, which is why there is a significant price difference. It features a 2D backlight system with 576 local dimming zones and a timing controller (TCON) designed to precisely control the high-speed modulation of 20,4 million LCD pixels and 576 backlight LEDs in perfect synchronization. These informationmacThe company does not report any news at all.

Connectivity

Here, the models have nothing to envy, because they are actually exactly the same. Both include one Thunderbolt 3 port (USB-C) to connect and charge a compatible Mac(with 96W charging) and three ports USB-C (up to 10 Gb/s) for connecting peripherals, storage and networks. However, other innovations that Studio Display has brought are quite interesting. These are the camera and speakers.

Camera, speakers, microphones

Apple probably trained by the pandemic, he decided that it is worth handling calls even on a purely work device, since teleconferences are part of the working hours of many of us. So he integrated a 12MPx into the device ultrawide-angle camera with 122° field of view and f/2,4 aperture. There is also a focus function. That is also why the display is equipped with its own A13 Bionic chip.

Maybe just Apple doesn't want you to have to Macu Studio to buy unsightly speakers, maybe he just wanted to utilize the technology he had already introduced with the new iMacem. In any case, the Studio Display includes a Hi-Fi system of six speakers with woofers in an anti-resonance arrangement. There is also support for surround sound when playing music or video in Dolby Atmos format and a three-microphone array of studio quality with high signal-to-noise ratio and directional beamforming. The Pro Display XDR has none of this.

Dimensions

The Studio display measures 62,3 by 36,2 cm, the Pro Display XDR has a width of 71,8 and a height of 41,2 cm. Of course, the working comfort that the device will provide you with when it is tilted is important. With a stand with adjustable tilt (–5° to +25°) it is 47,8 cm high, with a stand with adjustable tilt and height from 47,9 to 58,3 cm. Pro Display XDR with Pro Stand has a range from 53,3 cm to 65,3 cm in landscape mode, its tilt is -5° to +25°.

Price

In the case of a new product, you will only find a display and a 1m Thunderbolt cable in the box. The Pro Display XDR package is significantly richer. Apart from the display, there is also a 2m power cord and cable Apple Thunderbolt 3 Pro (2m) and cleaning cloth. But considering the price, these are still negligible items.

Studio Display with standard glass starts at 42 Kč, and in the case of varianty with a stand with adjustable tilt or VESA adapter. If you want a stand with adjustable tilt and height, you will pay 54 Kč. You will pay an extra 9 for nanotextured glass Kč.
