Jiří Filip Enterprise information systems are not usually the kind of applications that are talked about in the context of modern design. However, the developers of the Czech ERP system Allegro-software decided to change this perception a bit.
A new graphic theme is available in the current beta version Allegro Mac 27, which is inspired by the design language of the latest operating system macOS 27 Golden GateThe goal is not to create a copy of the environment Applu, but to transfer to the enterprise system the elements that users MacThey know and appreciate: cleanliness, clarity, consistent control and attention to detail.
Apple inspiration also in the corporate system
The new theme brings a redesigned look to most of the user interface. Users may notice, for example:
- buttons and controls in the shape of capsules inspired by contemporary macOS,
- color-coded icons of individual modules,
- gently rounded menus and dialog boxes,
- subtle effects of shine through and layering of elements,
- iconic traffic light control buttons in the upper left corner of windows.
Although the new look is significantly more modern, the developers tried to preserve the logic and ergonomics of the environment that long-time Allegro users are accustomed to.
Evolution instead of revolution
The project also includes a gradual modernization of the icons and graphic elements of individual modules. The changes are being made gradually so as not to disrupt the orientation of users who work in the system every day.
“We didn’t want to create just another color variantu. The goal was to bring the user experience closer to current desktop application standards while maintaining the efficiency that accountants, traders, and manufacturing companies expect from an ERP system.”
Testers wanted
As the theme is still in beta, the development team welcomes feedback from users. Comments can relate not only to any graphical shortcomings, but also to ergonomics, readability, and the overall impression of use.
